On Local-Church Ecclesiology
Autonomous, Not Independent
Baptist ecclesiology is local. No structure, organization, or denomination holds authority over a congregation — Christ alone shepherds His church through its elders and membership. Covenant Baptist Church is an autonomous local church, constituted in April 2024 and planted by Waco Family Baptist Church in Waco, TX.
Autonomous, however, is not the same as independent. We are one congregation among many in the body of Christ, and we do not labor in isolation. As an expression of our desire to see Christ proclaimed broadly, and our longing for genuine fellowship and mutual accountability with like-minded churches, we have joined with Reformed Baptist congregations across Texas through the Texas Area Association of Reformed Baptist Churches. We also commend the institutions and ministries below as faithful resources for the church.

The TAARBC is a fellowship of autonomous Reformed Baptist churches across Texas who share a common confession and commitment to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. As a member church, we benefit from genuine fellowship, mutual accountability, and cooperative labor with sister congregations striving together for the gospel.

International Reformed Baptist Seminary
IRBS exists to train men for faithful gospel ministry within the Reformed Baptist tradition. Grounded in Scripture and the 1689 London Baptist Confession, the seminary equips pastors and church leaders with the theological depth the church requires — men who can rightly divide the Word and shepherd the flock with conviction and care.
