Membership at Covenant Baptist Church is not a transaction — it is a covenant commitment made with a local family of believers. Here is what the process looks like.
The Process
What to Expect
Visit at Your Own Pace
Come as you are. Stay as long as you like. There is no pressure, no timeframe, and no expectation — just a warm welcome and faithful preaching of God's Word. Visit a few Sundays. Get a feel for who we are and whether this is where God is calling you.
Get to Know Us — and Let Us Know You
Christian fellowship is mutual. As you visit, our members will naturally introduce themselves. Share a coffee after service. Ask questions. We want you to know us and for us to know you. This is not a formality — it is how genuine community begins.
The Church Recognizes Fruit
When the fruits of the Spirit are evident in someone's life — or when someone has trusted Christ for the first time — the church elders may call a members' meeting to vote on baptism and reception into membership. This step is initiated by the elders, not by a sign-up form.
Public Profession and the Covenant
If the vote passes, you will publicly state your faith and agree to the church covenant in front of the congregation. That moment is a joyful occasion — you are not signing a contract, you are committing your life to a family of believers who will walk alongside you.
A Few Things to Understand
Membership is mutual. When you commit to this church, the church commits to you — shepherding you, praying for you, and walking with you through the ups and downs of life.
There is no checklist. We do not require you to complete a course, sign a statement of beliefs, or pass an interview. The elders will speak with you and assess whether your profession of faith is genuine — but that conversation is pastoral, not bureaucratic.
The church covenant matters. By becoming a member, you are committing to walk in fellowship with this congregation — to spur one another on toward love and good works, to submit to the oversight of the elders, and to use your gifts for the building up of the body. It is a serious and joyful commitment.
Baptism is required. If you have not been baptized as a believer following your profession of faith, you will be baptized before or as part of your reception into membership. We practice believer's baptism by immersion.
